There has been some radio silence for a while - for the good reason we have been in limbo with moving house for over a year now. With chains falling through and having to keep the house tidy for viewings I've struggled to put the time into painting that I really wanted.
The good news is that I'm now out the other side of the process in a lovely new house in a pretty village in rural Somerset. Even better news is that I now have a studio so that I can paint and walk away without tidying all my equipment away, make a mess, work on several pieces at once and finally work with a bit more focus. It is exciting and I am looking forward to painting local Somerset scenes and lots more wildlife. I'm planning to try oils for the first time and to really improve my pastel work. Hopefully there is a welcoming artistic community so that I can exhibit too.
Here is the first piece from the studio - Cows and Shade - watercolour and ink. This was a long project and I can already feel the reduced time pressure resulting in more thoughtful work
